Tahira Umeed-e-Seher Foundation works in Pakistan across education, healthcare, food support and community welfare. These four areas are not separate problems. The family whose child leaves school is often the same family postponing a doctor’s visit and stretching a month’s rations across six weeks.
So we start with the household rather than the programme. What is the specific cost, the specific week, the specific obstacle? That question produces smaller, less impressive-sounding work than a campaign does — and it is far more likely to change what happens next.
Each programme runs on its own terms, but they are delivered by the same people to the same neighbourhoods — which is what allows one to notice a need the others would have missed.
